Collateral Damage (1990), Sue Coe
Since the government tightly restricted media access to the battlefield
few horrific images initially emerged and antiwar activists barely
had a chance to churn
out rudimentary quick copy flyers. Only after a few months did they find a viable
hook for protest in the idea of “collateral damage”, military-speak
for the unintended victims of military action. Sue Coe’s allegorical image
reflected this side of the war.
