Philip will reveal what it is like to assign photographers, supervise picture editors, and make daily presentations to editors in the page one meeting. Philip Gefter has worked as a picture editor at one New York Times news desk or another for 8 years. He has been a picture editor at Fortune, Geo, Aperture, the San Francisco Examiner Sunday magazine, and even at Colors, the Benetton magazine. He was a founding member of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association, as well as president of its New York chapter in 1994 and 1995. He received a BFA in photography from Pratt Institute.
